Sacramento area meetup in January 2014

I just moved to Sacramento a few months ago for a new job and I'm itching to meet some fellow ERE people! Given the upcoming holidays, how about we meet some time in January?

I'm proposing any of the following: January 11, 12, 25 or 26, or any weekday evenings.

I don't think I can leave my job or this town that quickly, so I'll still be around. People I've met in real life have so far not been too receptive to ERE ideas, so it would be nice to meet another like-minded person

It really would be! I've been fortunate in finding support, but I still haven't met anyone else who's doing this IRL.

Have you been able to find cheap housing? So far I'm considering a $500 studio downtown, but I don't feel like I know all of my options.

$500 studio downtown is a pretty good deal. I live in a room rented out of a house, a couple miles away from work for $400 including internet/utilities. It's hard to get a better deal than what you've found without also finding roommates. It's a bike-friendly town so it's no sweat if you find a better place a little further away.

Ozymandias, I'm really glad to hear that Sacramento is bike-friendly! I plan to work downtown, so I'm hoping to live nearby. Just waiting for the results from a recent interview.

I took a look into roommates and house shares. $350/month homestays with a 30 minute bike ride to midtown are surprisingly common. I guess it's time to decide how much space I want, and how much of a commute I can handle.
