Netherlands (Alkmaar) meetup "learning tribe" june 2019

Post by J_ »

I suggest a meeting in the Netherlands on 15 or 16 juni in Alkmaar. The idea is to start a "Learning Tribe" : see the separate thread. I can handle a group of about 5 participants for the subjects: boating/tiny house/energy. The day will be organised on my boat and my place. PM me if you are interested.

Ah, this is one I would love to attend.... If only...
From your posts I believe you've packed three or four lives worth of adventure in your life so far. I wish I could be there.

That is a tempting offer. Thank you. Unfortunately we will be in Eastern Europe at that time.

Yes we start on the 16 of June in the Netherlands, on a (little) boat.

This is something I've been thinking about starting for some time now, but I'm not sure how to go about it, so I'm crowdsourcing for input.

The preliminary idea would be that a bunch of people (the tribe) meet regularly (~monthly) to learn something. The format of the meeting would be that a participant with experience would show the others the ropes. This could include a presentation, a demonstration, and perhaps some project if possible. Next time, it would be someone else in some other place. Naturally, it would be possible to making "continuing series" that build upon previous "lessons".
...
(*) ERE meetups in general have been of the hanging-out variety. What I'm exploring here are meetups that focus on finishing a particular project.
....
So my question is: Can this be done? Is it viable?
We have a list of subjects: boating/tiny house, energy, constrain risk, invest in real estate, figment food and more. So we have stuff for two, three or more meetings. First participants: J_ ,Rube, Figmenter 2x. Others who are interested and want to participate in this "tribe": pm me. We will report..
