Hello all,

For the past year or so I've been watching some of the videos from a YouTube channel called The School of Life. And as the title may suggest, it's a channel that creates various short chips on topics dealing with history, philosophy, emotional well-being, and psychotherapy just to name a few. Personally, I have enjoyed the videos as they are well made, and Alain de Botton's voice over is pleasant to listen to. I'd like to hear what ya'll have to say if you've seen the channel. Here is a link for those you haven't: https://www.youtube.com/user/schooloflifechannel

I like watching those, especially the ones that summarize the teachings or writings of various philosophers and literary figures. I learn a lot there. Some of the more recent ones have been not quite as good, though.

Some of the ancient philosophies and ideas behind the frugality movement are discussed in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npNc5P_66tQ

I'd also highly recommend his book "Status Anxiety," which discusses a lot of the issues we also deal with here.
