Here is a population density map of the world in 3d. You can also compare current population with that of 1990. Figured there'd be at least a few people here who found it interesting. The density of urban areas versus non is remarkable to see in this form.

3D population map
Re: 3D population map
Interesting! Really gives you an idea of how crowded India is.
The change map was awesome and seems to give a good idea of regional stability/migration. Lots of people moving to cities (especially in China). There were also a few places with spikes (Myanmar, Tehran, Caracas, and so forth); I am curious about what caused these.

Very cool. I always have to remind myself that the realms of urban and rural decline I inhabit are the exception rather than the rule. However, they might offer good model for some aspects of post-apocalypse lifestyle.

There goes 1/3 of the water supply to the ~2B people living in the area that is the most spiky dark green on the OP map.
This is no longer at the "unless we act now"-level. This is now committed.

2/3 lost by 2100 if we hit 2C. As far as crop irrigation goes, that's well beyond belt tightening and well into die-off event territory, and that's before factoring in extreme weather events like 1 in 100 year floods happening every other decade.
