Blockchain Applications
Blockchain Applications
Applications of blockchain technology related information
Re: Blockchain Applications
What do you guys think of blockchain mesh networks? There are a few startups including Althea and Ammbr. The largest barrier is clearly getting people/companies on board with it. The recent FCC decision provides even more incentive.
Re: Blockchain Applications
the big value add of a blockchain is solving trust in a decentralized system. this previously relied on one strong, centralized monopoly (like the government), because nobody could verify the other participants weren't printing money or cheating.
so brute imagines that successful applications of blockchain technology will be in the inter-banking, custodial, real estate, and similar decentralized ledger domains.

Re: Blockchain Applications
Listened to an episode of the podcast "invest like the best" during today's forest walk on how to value crypto assets.
Three interesting projects that were mentioned was off the top of my head.
Filecoin - Decentralized cloud storage
Steam - Reddit with incentive.
Aragon - If I remember correctly it was a way to verify online signature's

Blockchain land records
I'm not aware how land transfers differ from country to country, but this article has a bit of the history around it.
Georgia has already implemented blockchain for this purpose.

I know Estonia uses blockchains, mostly for digital records and security.
Re: Blockchain Applications
Is it true there is going to be an estcion?
If so would that be the first govt backed cryptocurrency?

Re: Blockchain Applications
No. It is just a weird idea from what I have heard. Besides EU would not allow it as to be the Eurozone countries have to solely used the Euro. Also the point of cryptocurrency is not controlled by the government, which means a government backed currency kind of defeats the purpose.
Besides there is no real political want or need for it.

Agriculture?
The reason for so many farmers struggle is that the middlemen get most of the profit between harvest and market.

Re: Blockchain Applications
that's not what the bitcoin price tells brute
Re: Blockchain Applications
If I wanted to sell/trade 3 rare books and a quart of wild Michigan blueberries to BRUTE for X bitcoin, how would the fulfillment of my end of the contract be enforced?
Re: Blockchain Applications
@fiby41- Blockchain may not be the do all answer. Thanks for the link. I've learned some things about authentication and transactions that has me thinking differently.
The comparisons to the internet keeps popping in my head. But one of the things that has made it wildly successful is the opposite of decentralization.
We all carry these simple and relatively weak computing devices that connect to the giant hub, super server. We take for granted that we are authentic conversing on ere.com. And the security of one click shopping retail services. All made possible by centralized power?

Re: Blockchain Applications
brute doesn't care for rare books and doesn't eat blueberries.
bitcoin doesn't enforce contracts outside of money.
Re: Blockchain Applications
But escrow services based on it can.
You could receive half revokable amount as advance and the remaining whence the product is delivered to recipient brute.
This requires middlemen and assumes you don't know, trust or like brute.

Re: Blockchain Applications
You mean in a "new paradigm" kind of way, right? Because of course all the traditional methods still apply. I think it makes M-of-N transactions (e.g. escrow) easier and less prone to counter-party type risks. See https://www.openbazaar.org or the DarkNet marketplaces for what actually happens (not sure what the fraud statistics are).
Of course, if the 3 rare books were actually 3 digital car keys and the blueberries were a digital note that can be redeemed readily for real blueberries, digital monies start to make even more sense.

This article helped me to better understand blockchain technology, its potential applications and how it may influence the internet/the world: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/16/maga ... .html?_r=0
