brute would estimate that opportunity is more at 10-15%. there certainly isn't "plenty".
"Why do the poor stay poor and the rich get richer?"
Re: "Why do the poor stay poor and the rich get richer?"
From an european point of view, opportunities to get obèse were really plentyfull in the usa.
Re: "Why do the poor stay poor and the rich get richer?"
oh yea, "opportunity to get fat" is probably 90%. brute thought it was the other way around, "opportunity to be healthy".
Re: "Why do the poor stay poor and the rich get richer?"
What do you mean by opportunity here? Food sold in supermarkets? If yes, even 5% is more than enough to build a healthy diet.
However, opportunity in a wider sense is certainly there, for probably close to 100% of people. Getting and staying fit is a single player game* unlike getting rich, where other people matter.
* if one has family/friends pulling one down and trying to keep one fat, one is still able to take action, i.e. disassociate oneself from toxic people
Re: "Why do the poor stay poor and the rich get richer?"
30% of humans are incompatible with society's schedule. 30% or so can't handle the diet their doctors and institutions prescribe them.
getting and staying fit is as much an MMO as getting rich is.

Re: "Why do the poor stay poor and the rich get richer?"
the poor stay poor because they do what it is that makes them poor. The rich get richer because they continue to do what makes them rich.
millionaire next door shows the behavior pretty well.
Watch how much money poor people blow at walmart.
