I ran across this investing idea today and wondered if any has tried it and would be willing to share their experience with it so far, positives, negatives, etc.

I wonder about the tax challenges.
I have $266k in a 401k, $41k in an IRA, and $12k in a taxable account that I consider "retirement" funds. I have cash outside of these funds.
My parents have been retired for 3 years. They have been telling me how important it is when you retire to have money outside of your tax advantaged accounts, so I want to start working on that.
I max out the 401k each year and want to start saving additional money in a taxable securities account. I have been considering the Motif concept for that extra $250-$300 a month.
I like this High Yield Dividend motif: https://www.motifinvesting.com/motifs/h ... #/overview
In the back testing it looks like it has outperformed the S&P for the most recent 2 years period and these companies have $1b market cap or greater with a 10 year record of not decreasing dividends.
For more of a speculative investment I like on called Drug Patent Cliffs: https://www.motifinvesting.com/motifs/d ... #/overview
