How do you know whether a company is socially responsible? Since it's difficult enough to tell if the financial statements accurately portray the state of the company (and these are audited) how would one tell if a company is truly a good corporate citizen or if they are just going through the motions.

@photoguy - It just adds another variable to the equation.
Greenwash is common. A lot of things these days is "green this" and "green that" or "a little bit more sustainable". It seems to me that going from 100% bad to 95% bad is enough for some company to push it as a "green alternative".
