There is definitely a lot of misinformation about tax rates "out there", so I cobbled together a simple table showing the overall tax rate for someone filing as a single employee in Oregon:

It is noteworthy that the rate never reaches 40%. A self-employed person's rates would be approximately 6% higher.

And, for grins, I added a table for someone who gets all their income from dividends.

The dividends table was great. We are still a ways from there and I hadn't actually crunched the numbers before. Thanks for sharing it.
