SWR milestone record
Re: SWR milestone record
I've since upped my estimates a lot, as I am aiming for being able to live alone in my current city ($$$) and higher spending on interests, so my SWR % has sadly risen. But on the original target which is still doable, I'm sitting pretty at 2.25%. I think I might be suffering from OMY (OMD?), but then again, I still enjoy my current job a lot . I will probably die with a mountain of unspent money.

Re: SWR milestone record
Since I last wrote, I have spent months in spreadsheets trying to magically work out how to get to FIRE sooner than the 2-3 years that I was hoping to initially. I created about 10 different complicated spreadsheets with formulas, auto colours & flashing bells. Even then, I did not have a clear solution that would propel me on the FIRE path.
Then I reluctantly engaged an expert to work through the options and within the first hour, he pointed out the most obvious opportunity for me to realign my investments to get maximum passive income, as I was getting less than 0.05% at the time.
So now I am at basic FIRE level, I can pay for the bare basics through the passive income. The next step I am working on is getting to a point where all expenses are paid for & then I plan to stop my consulting work as that is a 50 hour a week commitment at the moment!

Re: SWR milestone record
Today 14.9%. Hoping to bring that down some by lowering spending.

Re: SWR milestone record
I haven't tallied up actual expenses for the past year, but I'd like to have more spending when I become FI, so my SWR isn't based on actual expenses, but desired spending level.
Currently that sits at 18.75% and it came down below 20% earlier this year.

Re: SWR milestone record
3,8% (based on ultra low expenses of the last 12 months plus health insurance I'd have to pay if I RE, but without any margin of safety) Nevertheless

@Wolf
Congrats, what is your goal? You must be getting pretty close.

Re: SWR milestone record
my goal: <3% with a margin of safety of 100% (I would answer you today, but things could change. You never know)
Re: SWR milestone record
@wolf - are you saying <1.5% then? What are you factoring in? Supporting more humans or just spending way more? Good job reaching 4%!

Re: SWR milestone record
Congrats Wolf! Do you find it get's easier for the WR% to drop once you got to 4%?

Re: SWR milestone record
I'm not sure I understood all of it but there was a discussion about the relative difficulty of changes in WR at different points at viewtopic.php?t=81122Birds1Stone wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2018 11:40 amDo you find it get's easier for the WR% to drop once you got to 4%?
