where wich? oh, latin america....
milton friedman made a documentary series in the 1980s called "free to choose". it's a bit outdated obviously but it presents his ideas on free markets/free trade, monetary policy, etc etc.
then niall ferguson made "the ascent of money" (after his book i think?) which i should rewatch one of these days.
btw you can also get austrian economic lectures online from the mises institute. i forget the name of the prof. the most valuable takeaway for me from that was the refutstion of karxism and the value of the entrepreneurial function,

Yes I read the book about 10 years ago, I've forgotten most of it but I remember it was a good read but didn't really answer to me the more ''metaphysical'' questions about debt and money.Alphaville wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 10:07 amthen niall ferguson made "the ascent of money" (after his book i think?) which i should rewatch one of these days.
Iirc he lost a big public argument with Paul Krugman over his inflation predictions and Krugman derided him 'a historian who also writes about economics'. In many ways economics is like mean girls for middle aged men.

Re: McConnell Economics, Chapter 13
Chenda,
Hyperinflation is an inflammatory word. And that's why it is in the title of a YouTube video.
But, monetary value is odd. Reread G&J's intro to this thread. The whole chapter is about ways to measure the distortions of monetary value, using math.
So think in terms of the relationship between monetary value to passive income instruments (SPX was the example in the vid).
Is a market spike an increase of those stock values, or a decrease of value in today's cash?
There are ways to measure, calculate, and interpret these changes. That is what macro is about.
