The idea of being 40-50 yrs old living in small house and relying on some website with numbers with your income is fascinating. I hope to be there one day.

I haven't seen a problem with Ameritrade. Migrating people over to Schwab won't be happening for a few months.
Meanwhile, Vanguard's interface still sucks.

I think IB's issues are resolved now. I went in there at the end of the day yesterday and placed a trade OK. They apparently had a datastore or something fail and were restoring from a backup on Monday at least from what I read.

Re: Recent issues at IB and TD Ameritrade
I'm shocked! Shocked to find that there's BS going on on twitter.
Anyhoo, this is why I prefer financial companies with a brick and mortar presence. Also, for strategies that require snag-free execution, e.g. intra-day swing/momentum, lest things go wrong, I would never rely on retail brokers or at least I would have two independent ones so one could cover for the other. Ditto two ways to connect (e.g. landline and mobile tethering). Shit happens.

Glad I went with Vanguard years ago when I moved my assets away from my credit union.
