I have some money that I need to keep hold of an not speculate to wildly with, similar to the bucket system.
In this fund I do not intend to put anything in the actual stock markets as they are likely to be pretty volatile for the foreseeable future.
What would you guys actually invest in?
I am thinking of a mixture between precious metal ETF's, bonds and property funds...

Re: The Not Quite Emergency Fund
It depends on how long I plan to hold it before I spend it. My checking account gets 1.75% so I hold everything that isn't in stocks there but that rate is not typical. CDs are ok but the rates are low now, maybe 1 to 1.5%.

If you need it in a year, 1 year government bond. 2 years, a 2 year bond.

In the UK you also have the option of premium bonds.
