It's pretty cool to see this news article come out on MSN, pro sports will be a big catalyst for change:

It's one of the big positives of a more open media platform, now that a handful of rich people can't buy our newspapers and dictate what to tell the public. Unbeknownst to the athletes the real benefit will be to their long term health, the faster recovery times and improved endurance is only a side benefit.
Pro sports is starting to figure it out

Interesting, but your headline is misleading. This is a small subset of players, in one league. Not one of the players profiled in the article has been on a vegan diet for more than a year. I'd be curious to see how many stick with it long term.
The Lakers nutritionist appears to favor the anti-vegan paleo diet.

Confirmation bias.
A few vegans in professional athletics but I think they exist there at around the same rate as the base rate in the population.

My guess is 50% or more of your pro athletes go mostly, or all plant based within 5 years:

The most difficult part for most people is the stigma that "was" associated with diet, that and options that people enjoy.
