A big thank you to everyone on the forums who has discussed details of 401k plans. I can't place what thread it was where I learned about this, but our company recently changed 401k policies to one where the match percentage was calculated per-paycheck, and it was possible to not hit the maximum match by contributing too quickly. None of my coworkers caught this, and I am sure I would not have if I hadn't read about it here previously. It's actually not hard to calculate the ratios to be sure of hitting the maximum match before hitting the Federal contribution cap, but I just had to know to go do it.
Thanks!
