Forum search restriction (>3 chars)?

You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 4 characters and must not contain more than 84 characters excluding wildcards.
Occasionally I like to go to a user's profile and then "search user's posts" and put in whatever keywords. Occasionally I get the error message (as above) if I am only searching for something like: job, sex, car, van, oil, gas, etc.

Any chance of removing the >3 char restriction?

Use a leading or trailing space/wildcard.

I think the rule excludes wildcards (tried adding "." xor "*" to "car")? Leading/trailing space also seems to not count.

edit: if I add quotes as part of the query with a space, like:

Code: Select all

"car "
it seems to work. Thanks!

And thank you as well bryan. I've been searching the forum for "development" instead of "web development" for the last month..

The forum SQL databases get rather large when they also include three letter words like "the", "you", ...

I usually search the forums with google using site:forum.earlyretirementextreme.com as one of the search terms, e.g.

site:forum.earlyretirementextreme.com development -"web development"

Ah, of course. I just tried a: "web " development

search on here and it didn't work anyway, since it splits it up.

You can also use google. Put the following in the search bar:

site:forum.earlyretirementextreme.com sex
