Creating a ranking of forum posts/topics by popularity

Post by guitarplayer »

This forum a goldmine of information and high quality insights! When I find something of such sort, I can sometimes become a bit obsessed in wanting to go through it all. But there is just too much! I have go no time left to read books anymore.

Is there/could there be a ranking of forum posts/topics by views/day (popularity)? I know, the most popular does not have to be the most insightful. But I think on this particular forum it just might be a lot of the time!

Or maybe such function could be added in the search engine? Sort by views/day.

There is a built-in sort at the subforum level for total views (not views/day). Still, it could be useful if you want to Pareto the forum. On a computer, click the sort icon at bottom (looks like: https://fontawesome.com/v4.7.0/icon/sort-amount-asc ) change the sort criteria to views.

@bigato, yeah I think this would be one step too far in me wanting this feature.

@Stahlmann, I actually used to do it sometimes before registering at the forum.

@Fish, yes, this it great! Thank you. Could be used as a rough guide of popularity when one pairs it with the OP's date.

What could be useful to do is copy the information from the insightful threads into the wiki. That would be a lot of work though. As much as writing a book even given the lack of information index on the forum.

Or as much as writing a PhD dissertation, something like 'a qualitative study/text analysis of contrarian attitude in the post industrial world: case analysis of an online community.' I would envision it similar in form to 'The Millionaire next Door,' but probably shorter and written with less style, ha!
