We are talking DNS, not domain registration, correct?
I use Cloudflare free for the few blogs that I maintain. However it's more than DNS. They also optionally offer free and paid DDOS protection, HTTPS, and CDN services. I pay nothing and am quite impressed with their level of service.

The price for renewing is always reasonable and Whois privacy can be had for $1/year with their eternal coupon code. They also support MFA and DNSSEC.
