An Opportunity to Show Character

Post by Ego »

-You may not be able to control what happens but you can control how you react.
-In a time of great change, opportunities materialize. Be prepared.
-As others react in fear, focus on reacting with calm deliberation.
-External turmoil can lead to internal turmoil. Internal turmoil causes paralysis in some and irrational action in others. Pause. Notice. Think.

What else?

Stick to your principles, even in the face of significant pressure to conform to the principles of others.

Really, I think just tune out the noise over the next 72 hours and you'll be fine. The world has a remarkable ability to just keep spinning no matter who we trot out under the Seal.

Start inside and work out. Own your shortcomings and forgive them. Don't look to externalize blame. Be kind to those around you. Make everything you touch a little better.

Buy? :D

Change is slow and if you pay even half attention you can see it coming. Folks are freaking out for no reason.

Above all, remember that simplicity, frugality and a willingness to just embrace change are your greatest assets.

Many folks have been asking us if we have voted, and we say that we voted today, but we also voted every day. We vote with the choices we make, the products we buy (or not buy, rather), etc. That has a much bigger impact on your life (and the world ) than "voting" once every 4 years. In fact, I think we have almost completely isolated ourselves ( or are on the road to) from the system that other people think they are influencing by "voting". That is the core of what ERE is for us.

Also, just remember we've been here before. Obama was the antichrist, the next Hitler. There wasn't going to be another election!

Thank you for this advice, it made my morning much better.

This election was a turning point, if only from the point of view of ending the election propaganda for a time.

At a turning point, changes are easier to accomplish. So look at your plans and resolutions, your ideas for how to redesign your life, and implement some of the things that you believe will improve your life. Grow!

Hah! Yes, I have been tempted to reference this thread several times recently. If anyone is under the impression that showing character involves quiet acquiescence then they've got something to learn.
