China & Hong Kong

Post by Paula »

Hong Kong 2019 looks like Czechoslovakia in 1968.

Thoughts?

Maybe, but in 1968 several countries such as USSR, Poland, Hungary invaded Czech with their troops and tanks. No invasion in HK yet....

"Fragrant Harbor" by John Lanchester is an excellent historical novel related to this topic.

Few things like these (HK, Kashmir, no-deal Brexit being most likely again) at the same time are usually sufficient to send the markets down by 15%.

When and where there is chaos, if local police cannot contain, then the National Guard " invades and occupies " to restore law and order. Example- USA

@Bankai - Indeed, but they have flooded Kashmir with troops and abolished its political autonomy.

If the guy in the White House was in charge in HK, he would tell the people " if you don't like it here, then leave".

Actually that's about the one place on earth where "build the wall" would have nearly unanimous support

I can think of a few countries in the world who may be in favor of also " building a wall" to keep out who they want not to enter and or live in their lands.
