I think that if you have to justify planting trees with numbers, then any chance you have to moderate the outcome is completely gone. Planning trees solely for the sake of climate change may not be rational but in a yielding ecology it still makes a whole lot of sense. Who doesn't like trees?

Exactly. Planting anything puts you in touch with the cycle which nourishes us, and planting a tree adds the benefit of long-term thinking.
