@Johnny, that is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a while. On the favs list now.

Kristian Bush - Trailer Hitch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf-fXn8z1LA

One of the most refreshing songs I have heard on the radio of recent!

And to stick with the country theme today here's another great song.

I have remarked to the DW that there seem to be cracks forming in the current paradigm of "make money, progress, consume" mantra that society likes to chant. These songs are just two examples.

And yes, it is very ironic coming from Kanye West!

LOL yeah, ironic because around the same time you made that post, Kanye was selling plain white tees for $120, which sold out.

I like both of these, but can't decide whether Kenny or Kanye is more (or less?) in alignment with ERE.

I last heard this song as a teen. I was never particularly rebellious against the primary authorities (teachers, parents) but instead against the existing social hierarchy and peer pressure which was used to decide what my priorities and interests should be.

Kind of funny. I wouldn't consider myself a social pariah anymore, but somehow, the song still seems to apply in a different context :).

Return - United In A Scream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYZBG-lasPY

First Verse:

United in a scream,
We'll tell them you and me.
We are the outcasts,
And we're proud to be.
In this lost society,
We were never meant to be.
We are the rebels,
And here to tear it down.

Teachers, they can't teach us
Our parents don't understand,
That we rule our own lives,
And they've lost command.
Don't want to grow old.
Our dreams won't be sold.
We'll do it our way,
No matter what they say.

Chorus:
We're gonna stay together,
Rise up and scream forever.
We're gonna carry on.
United in a scream.
We're gonna cry out loud,
'Cause we're the future.

Second Verse:

Don't wait,
Live your dreams today,
Forget the rules,
Tomorrow will be too late.
Let 'em think we're crazy,
Let 'em think we're wild.
They're just programmed to be,
Deaf, dumb and blind.

We listen to our own voice,
And follow the heart.
We'll make our stand in every town.
And they will never stop us,
The young, the wild and free.
We stand united in a scream.

I'm saving such lyrics to use them in the subject line of my monthly journal updates (Under the Yoke: viewtopic.php?t=6084) when I have nothing better to do.

Next month's post title is a frugal lyric:

I'll cut my toes off and step on the receipt before I foot the bill.

For those of the country persuasion, Sugarland - Something More

Monday, hard to wake up
Fill my coffee cup, I'm out the door
Yeah, the freeway's standing still today
It's gonna make me late, and thats for sure
I'm running out of gas and out of time
Never gonna make it there by nine

[Chorus:]
There's gotta be something more
Gotta be more than this
I need a little less hard time
I need a little more bliss
I'm gonna take my chances
Taking a chance I might
Find what I'm looking for
There's gotta be something more

Five years and there's no doubt
That I'm burnt out, I've had enough
So now boss man, here's my two weeks
I'll make it short and sweet, so listen up
I could work my life away, but why?
I got things to do before I die

[Repeat Chorus]

Some believe in destiny, and some believe in fate
I believe that happiness is something we create
You best believe that I'm not gonna wait
'Cause there's gotta be something more

I get home 7:30 the house is dirty, but it can wait
Yeah, 'cause right now I need some downtime
To drink some red wine and celebrate
Armageddon could be knocking at my door
But I ain't gonna answer that's for sure.
There's gotta be something!

Acre of Land - Ray Lamontage

Here's the song, and the entire album it's on (it's the first song)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWWXV4VCn6c

I'm gonna buy me an acre of land
Yes I'm going to build me a home
With my very own hands
Gonna dig me a little garden
And watch that garden grow
And take it slow
Take it slow
Let it roll

I'm gonna find me a high place to stand
Then I'm gonna find me the girl
I wanna take in my hand
Gonna have myself some children
And watch those children grow
And take it slow
Let them grow
Take it slow

I'm gonna find me an arce of land
Then I'm going to build me a home
With my very own hands
Gonna plant me a little garden
And watch that garden grow
And take it slow
Take it slow
Let it roll

I always think of ERE when I hear this on the radio. I know it's popular, but I like it anyway. :P

Renegades

Run away with me
Lost souls and reverie
Running wild and running free
Two kids, you and me

And I say
Hey, hey hey hey
Living like we're renegades
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Living like we're renegades
Renegades, renegades

Long live the pioneers
Rebels and mutineers
Go forth and have no fear
Come close the end is near

And I say hey, hey hey hey
Living like we're renegades
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Living like we're renegades
Renegades, renegades

All hail the underdogs
All hail the new kids
All hail the outlaws
Spielberg's and Kubrick's

It's our time to make a move
It's our time to make amends
It's our time to break the rules
Let's begin

And I say hey, hey hey hey
Living like we're renegades
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Leaving like we're renegades
Renegades, renegades
