Amazon just rolled out their discounting algo so the older reviews are discounted in their "helpfulness". Previously, there was a strong Matthew effect in which reviews that were already considered helpful were brought to the top of the list resulting in more eyeballs and thus more "likes". Consequentially, the reviews that were "best first" also become the "best for the longest".
Well, amazon changed that now.
