Live Like A Stoic Week is happening for the second year. It will be taking place from November 25 to December 1. Everyone who is interested in Stoicism, or who practices it today, is encouraged to take part, get involved in an event or activity, and help spread the word.
I don't know if they will leave the handbook up indefinitely so you may want to download it now...
Exeter Uni has a reputation for being very rewarding to the demands of the flesh. More Bacchic than Stoic. At least it did back in my day; one of the fallbacks if you didn't make Oxbridge but were intent on spending three years on an epic bender.
I never quite understood these "lets do something that takes years to really grok" for a very short amount of time and presume we might learn something. I mean, why?

Seems like you have to start somewhere, and an organized, guided week may be a better resource than just reading a book. This may not apply for people with different learning styles.
I'm hoping it will be a good intro, but I certainly don't think they are making claims that you'll reach expert level in that week. Either way, I plan to try it, and will happily report back.

I started today... but I'm a little interested in the use of the questionnaires (which request your real name). Does anyone know in what form the findings are published? I haven't been able to find any more info on the site.
Stoic Week 2017 begins on October 16th, and lasts seven days. It's an international online event, open to everyone, and completely free of charge. Stoic Week has been running every year since 2013. Last year, 3,400 people enrolled.
brute prefers cynic week. stoics are compromisers.
I've always thought cynicism was a convenient philosophy to justify the avoidance of challenges and promote schadenfruede while stoicism provides the mental framework for pursuing interest despite the cynics who stand in the way.
The universe doesn't care about you. Why do you care about what the universe has in mind?
Exactly - so why worry about it? Better for focus on what can be done instead of railing against what can't be done or discerned at the moment...this is the stoic way.
