December 8th is fine. It is a little long, but there are probably a couple chapters that could be skimmed, if someone so chose.

Yes, our current Book-tator Chad has assured me that his munificence will be forthcoming. Go back to your labors, peon! ;-)

Yes, I'm hoping to get it up today. Too much for me to type at work.

It is a new year and a new dawn in Book-tation Nation -- "Where everyone gets their 15 minutes of dictatorship"

Now ascending to the Book-tator Throne is the most illustrious and intrepid JENNYPENNY!

The peonage, including the de-throned Chad, will now bow down and read her selection, The Sports Gene, by David Epstein.

We await her wisdom on the subject some time near the end of the month.

Reminder that the book club has a wiki to see where we have been and where we are going if you want to reserve the next couple selections from your local library in advance: http://earlyretirementextreme.com/wiki/ ... _Book_Club

elegant and workathome, we'll need your selections as soon as you can to stay ahead of the curve. None shall ascend the throne without enduring the trials of selectionating first. Thanks.

I should be ready to go this weekend if enough people are finished. I hope the sports theme didn't turn people off. It addresses topics we talk about frequently like nature vs. nurture and mastery of skills.

It also ties into Gladwell's Outliers a bit, so if anyone has been itching to read that book, you might enjoy reading both books at the same time. I haven't read David and Goliath yet, but imagine it touches on the same theme.

I'll start the review thread soon (I'm having trouble deciding what to talk about--there's a lot to talk about in the book).

If you don't want to slog through the whole book, I would say reading chapters 1-5, and then 14-16 and the epilogue is probably more than enough to jump into the discussion.

It's been a long time since we booked and rolled.

Announcing his Eminence, the Booktator whose name could be from the world of hip hop, SSHAWNN, a/k/a "Puff Bookie"

sshawnn's first edict is that y'all shut up and read his selection "Quiet", by Susan Cain. And if you've already read it, you can shut up, too, ( ;-) ) until sshawnn graces us with his wisdom in a week or two.

Also, I'll be needing selections from elegant and workathome ASAP, if you don't want to be usurped by the Felix.

I've sent my personal apologies to @jennypenny a few weeks back for not getting to her book, but i promised her (and myself) that I will be reading her book next on my cue.

Better late than never!

Felix, the Usurper, has now ascended the throne.

In Latin, "Felix" means Lucky or Happy.

His Most Regal Lucky Happiness will now have us read "Zero to Maker" by David Lang, which looks like a vast departure from what we've been reading recently. Since some may need to time to locate, we'll look for His Happiness to grace us with a review sometime in late April.

Next potential Booktator is fireere (please give us a selection) followed by Ego (Epic Series by Johnny B. Truant -- noted above), then vivacious, GandK, C40, henrik and 5to9. Please get in your selection if you are on that list to give fair warning of what comes next. Or if you choose not to Book-tate, pm me and we'll skip until next round. Thanks.

BTW, this club is non-exclusive and anyone is free to join at any time.

That's cruel an unusual punishment. Especially, that long speech at the end.

That would just be cruel. :D

I hope my new avatar keeps me clear of punishment.

I thought some DIY instructions would be helpful reading. I try to be a good booktator, no executions on Tuesdays, the day of Eris.

As my first order of business, I declare you all discordian popes.

You are now infallible and don't take shit from anybody.

Late April sounds good.
