Hola ERErs,

I know that Walden is a classic book that is mentioned here and there in this forum as a pillar of frugal living and out-of-society lifestyle.
I put together a post with my favorites quotes here:

Reading the book now. With a highlighter.

It's really starting to change my outlook on life.

Here's just one provoking piece of advice from Thoreau: "simplify, simplify simplify".
Here's another one, relevent to ERErs: "by working 6 weeks a year, I could meet all the expenses of living. The whole of my winters, as well as most of my summers, I had free and clear for study."

Amen to that.

I read Walden in highschool, but I don't remember it leaving much of an impression on me. I'm sure if I read it now having lived life a little I would understand it better. I think its ironic that Walden is often read in American high schools.

This is a great collection. I think it included just about all the highlights I remember.
