Cereal City Checking In

Hey how is everyone?

32 male from Michigan. This will be a briefish intro of myself.

I have read this site on/off for years. I have not had any specific plan or savings/ budget goals to speak of besides pay bills and hope to have some money left.

I have always been a frugalish, do it yourselfer, anti consumerist not worried about keeping up with joneses type.

I currently have a career that I love, Union Millwright. Part of the appeal to me is the seasonal/ feast or famine aspect of it.
That said; I do not want to work my life away.

So I'm diving into this forum to be able to discuss... well everything with like minded people. Who realize it's possible not to work till your 65.

My goal is to be Financialy Indepedent by 35. I will most likely continue working in my Trade for years although far more part time then I currently do. (only worked a total of about 7 months in 2017) Though if I decided I've had enough, I'd like to be out from behind the 8 ball by then.

Well look forward to interacting with everyone. I will start a Journal soon with more specifics... once I get a better handle on how much I spend per month currently.

Welcome, BMF (I hope that stands for bad mother fucker.) I'm looking forward to the journal! I was a long-time lurker myself, but participating is much more fun.

Welcome BMF. I hope you'll enjoy it here. So a millwright is someone who repairs machinery; and there's apparently a busy-season and a not-busy season, depending on the agricultural cycle I think?

And now I'm curious what RFS stands for, too. Ready to fucking shine, perhaps?

@DutchGirl& & Jason- Nice guesses. Unfortunately, it''s neither of those. I wish it was, though, because what you are about to read is next-level sad. When I was 9 or 10, my cousin told me about RuneScape. 86 levels later, I decided there was a serious problem and weaned off my addiction with this other game, Club Penguin. I wound up joining the Miniclip.com Club Penguin forums, where RFS was the moderator.

This dude was like the Douglas MacArthur of the Miniclip forums. He provided tons of value, and he was hilarious, but he did troll sometimes and was banned twice. Alas, he rebranded himself as Dracophile in 2008 and relinquished his position to Testsumonchi. When I was creating my ERE account, it was the first name that came to mind.

Wow thank you for the welcomes last year everyone. Forgive but once I started a journal apparently I never checked back in on this thread. Also never spent much time journaling.

@RFS - BMF is actually my initials so I like to use it because of what you hope it was, to leave people wondering.

@Dutch - Yes machinery repair, rigging, precision measurement and alignment with various instruments(all types of micrometers, calipers, optical equipment; theodolites, transits, and laser measuring equipment) the saying goes: If it rotates, we fix, fabricate, install, maintain and align it. The seasonality (<- is that a word??) I speak of is actually about the outage cycles of nuclear power plants. They tend to go offline mostly in the spring and fall for maintenance and repairs.

Thank you again. I have not been very active I'm not making any promises but I look to journal more next year.
