Hello from Canada

Post by canoe »

Hi everyone! I’ve read the blog (the entire blog!) and the book, but haven’t spent much time on the forum as of yet. That changes now.

A bit about me:

I’m in my early-mid-twenties and just starting my career. I was lucky enough to come across ERE via MMM before graduating university.

I’m currently working in tech, but I really like the idea of using complete or partial financial independence to try out various different jobs without worrying about retraining costs/low pay in order to live a more varied life.

I’m planning on starting a journal at some point, although things aren’t terribly interesting in my financial life at the moment. (I’m still living with my parents and my job is remote due to COVID-19 so my expenses are pretty much non-existent. This is great for my savings rate, but it means there’s not much opportunity for optimization or problem solving.)

See you around the forum!

I like to pick Dividend stocks. Canada has many Smallcaps with interesting business models which pay monthly dividends. The valuations are also much lower than for comparable US stocks.
