Hi everyone. I have been reading a bit on this site and decided to join the forum. Our current plan is to retire in 4.5 years and tour the country in a truck pulling a sailboat (sometimes it will be our ghetto RV when we can't find a place to sail). We plan to visit 49 states with the truck/boat, spending a couple of months in each one. Maybe a lot more time in Alaska and Florida :p
To make this work, we are doing extreme saving. 180K income, saving a bit over 100K a year (doesn't sound extreme, but figure that taxes + SS + medicare takes out over 50K. Our goal is 1.3 million invested in dividend stocks and also bonds.
Still wasting a lot of money living on 30K a year, but it is expensive to work in the NW. I would love to be able to live on 20K a year for 2 people.
