This is Dave from Illinois. I'm late fifties so kind of late jumping on board but have had this feeling something has been missing in my life and I found I rather like the minimalism type living. This is what brought me here.
Looking at divorce from hyper consumer spouse and at this point we don't have any more assets left. So I'm starting a new life at zero fully knowing and realizing life is not about stuff.
Anyway, any suggestions or direction about how to get the best out of this?

Welcome Dave!
Jacob's Blog posts and Jacob's ERE Book would be a great start.

Welcome,
What brought you to ERE? Hope the divorce is not going too bad all things considered.

You have a clean slate and the desire. Now you just have to focus and apply.

Based on your brief description of yourself you are going to enjoy the process as much as the destination. Welcome!

JLF was interviewed by someone at PBS Next Avenue (geared towards adults over 50), and in the interview he talks about starting the process later in life. The full interview was published in a blog post. You might find it helpful.

A minimalist living with a hyper consumer spouse. I can relate. This is kind of a leap, but have you looked into Van Living? I'm assuming that after several decades of watching your house fill up with *stuff* that you are ready to walk the Earth, like Caine in Kung Fu.
