at the library today, I just picked up "How to Live Well Without Owning a Car".
I also picked up a Murakami book "After the Quake".

I have a question for those who use the 4/25 permanent portfolio method.
Do you re-balance only if one of the parts breaks the 15/35 band rule?
Or do you re-balance once per year to a perfect 4/25 ratio?

I agree that "community" would be very important in a catastrophic situation and these people are finding a reason to accumulate stuff, but not necessarily skills to survive.

Just shows the insanity around personal finance in America. No wonder people work until they drop dead.

I cannot stand eating out with people and the restaurant brings one check. Pisses me off to no end....
