Re: "how to talk to others" vs "this is ere"

Understood. I sympathize. I've said in other threads on several occasions that a tool is only as good as how the user uses it. If most people inexplicably bashed themselves in the forehead with a hammer whenever they picked one up then we might reconsider handing out hammers. Myers-Briggs comes to m...

Re: "how to talk to others" vs "this is ere"

As someone who uses a wrench as a hammer more than he uses a hammer as a hammer simply because I have more wrenches at hand than hammers, I'd say that if the idea of using a wrench as a hammer hurts you deeply then you probably shouldn't use a wrench as a hammer.

Thanks @davtheram12. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think maybe your neighborhood has beaten my apartment building for the best junk. A young woman had a very dramatic breakup this weekend. She dumped a box full of pink fluffy hearts, trinkets, an empty bottle of Moet and a ceramic unicorn that must hav...

CDC Identifies Small Group of Covid-19 Infections Among Fully Vaccinated Patients This proportion seems very favorable to me! Agreed.... somewhat. The older and less heathy one is, the more it makes sense to vaccinate. OTOH, considering so many of the decisions made during the pandemic used the bel...

What narrative ? I could post a thousand examples where the media framed a person espousing thoughtful, mild criticism of our covid response as a Trump supporting, tobacco chewing, capitol invading, inbred, idiot. It is no surprise that.... Frita: Teen, wearing a mask over just one’s chin is a “chi...

I really enjoy living. I do not have a death wish. But if I have to go some time, I'd want it to be something similar to how Aleksander Doba went. It is before 4AM here and I'm getting ready to start my workout. Nonetheless, I propose a toast to Doba. Aleksander “Olek” Doba https://www.youtube.com/w...

The rich will not give up their power if they don't have to, and they don't have to given modern military technology. Do you believe the rich are feeling there is a legitimate threat to their power? If Covid showed us anything it showed us just how correct Huxley was though perhaps he didn't realiz...

can the discussion of system integration solve this problem? and if so how?
Can a system that is (meant to be) descriptive of a process solve a problem?

Yes, this is what happens when the people welcome without question the narrative being intubated down the throat of society.
They can't help but to regurgitate it.

@davtheram12, truth be told, I am more of an enthusiast than someone who is knowledgeable. A few of my swap meet friends have encyclopedic knowledge of the mid-level artists that we might find among the piles of junk and can judge at a glance what something is worth. I would be useless without the a...

70 is a big number, especially since comparing deaths to serious hospitalizations. Dunno what the current survival rate is in ICU. 78% of all those hospitalized with Covid-19 are obese or overweight. That is all-age hospitalization. What percentage of the younger cohort you mention are obese or ove...

Yeah, it provides an opportunity for everyday people to get in without having to deal with seed phrases and whatnot, allowing them to hold something crypto-ish in their IRAs. I have to admit, I was a bit confused/concerned by HSBC blocking access for their customers to anything crypto related includ...

@guitarplayer, I don't know. In the various threads it seems that some see it as descriptive and others as prescriptive. Or perhaps they see the levels behind their current level as descriptive and those ahead as prescriptive. A good example would be the focus on getting under 1 Jacob in spending. I...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

A few months ago I bought an unframed old painting for $5 (practically nothing) at the swap meet. I tried to decipher the signature using the free online resources and showed it to my art friend. The signature and style looked similar to a moderately famous 19th century painter but there was one let...
