I lived on friend's land in tiny (120 sq ft) house for 5 years. Advantages of tiny house: well built, wood stove, own design, no off-gassing, uncluttered, beautiful. Disadvantages: no shower, moveable but not for long distances.

Alders are easy to grow from seed. Collect seed in the fall from ripe cones, sow in pots, overwinter and by the next fall you should have lots of 4 to 6" healthy cedar seedlings.
