Obligatory mention for non-furniture living, floor sitting/sleeping, and Katy Bowman's idea of deliberately eschewing labor-saving devices Intentionally sat on the floor today for 20 minutes. Trying a new rule... I can only watch YouTube if I'm sitting on the floor! (YT is the "social" ap...

Re: Hunting for Food: A Primer

I just discovered that Steven Rinella (of Meateater) wrote a two volume series directly in line with the theme of this thread. I have not read them, but his guides are usually known for being high quality. Both volumes have perhaps the highest ratings I've ever seen on Amazon for a book. 4.9 stars ...

Re: Loutfard's journal

Just read your journal... following along! Shaking my head a little as I'm contemplating the burpee plan.... I'm too fat. And I like IF. Just need to do it more. When I was at EREFest 23, it was really interesting to see everyone be fit and or lean, and be the sole fat guy.

Re: ERE City (US)

My friend is basically trying to start something similar by buying up a bunch of property on this one street in New Orleans. He's trying to convince other people to move to the same street. It's the guy with the urban garden I used to live on (urban garden is on the street). I'm considering buying ...

Re: ERE City (US)

P.S. Has anyone here looked into the legacy of architect Walter Segal ? His design goal was simplified diy affordable home building. Very close to the traditional US platform framing way in some ways, with some clever inventions on top to make things even more diy friendly. His work obviously isn't...

Re: ERE Travel Thread

As a late 40s male .. I get the hesitation towards hostels. Check out the different accomodations available at the hostels. Sometimes you find Japanese style-ish capsules, sometimes it's a 4 person room, sometimes they have private rooms available for a reasonable cost. I've stayed at a couple in th...

Re: The Education of Axel Heyst

Although, it is the case that a bit of "Dumb" Blonde is worth at least approximately 1 free dinner out per week = $1500/year=.04 X $39,000. So, a bit of Devil Cynster would likely result in at least that much savings per erotic encounter, and this rule-of-thumb would hold true even within...

Ok, looks like these machines are pretty simple. The oven has a central electronic controller that requires a sensor input. I’m not sure what this thing is but it’s either a thermocouple or thermistor. Here is a video of where to find it. https://youtu.be/cGCNPhvYKr0?si=A_15mnl3TocdSsTc Thanks... I...

Re: Garden Log

Can we talk about fruit tree pruning (and health)? I'm in love with my lime tree. Two questions: 1) some leaves are yellow. Picture This app suggested it might be over watering. Which... It's the dry season here (Guatemala). Not sure that's right?! 2) I feel like I should prune it? What do you think...

Awesome! nice updates. I'm working on learning how to grow a vegetable garden. And I found your thread because I searched for "pruning". I have a lime tree that I think needs pruning. I'll post that in the Garden Log thread tho to not hijack your shiny new journal!

Great, thank you! Frigidaire FKGA20C3MKB 20" gas oven. Doesn't get hotter than about 350 F confirmed with 3rd party thermometer and slow cooking times. Ok.. so I hadn't even bothered to explore options assuming it was some dangerous or complicated gas valve or something. My apologies for that! ...
