Re: Portable washing machine experiment

Interesting device (the OP) but I would prefer not to rely on USB-power. I like the Sea to Summit bucket, can't beat that weight! Personally, I have a Scrubba wash bag (150g I think), which is essentially a dry bag (and can double as that, to protect your valuables from water [rain, sea, river, etc....

Re: OutOfTheBlue's Journal - Round 2 - Wanderings

The below quote pretty much sums up reframing questions of the style "Who am I healing?" "Who am I endeavoring to heal?" "Who's healing whom?", "Who wants to heal?", "What needs healing?" that came up to me as we started tackling the Plotkin/Wild Min...

Is there a way to get clearer on his nonsense refusal, as to where he is coming from? What are your recourses? If they are solid, are you prepared to not let this pass and ensure you get what you're legally entitled to even if that alienates things and puts you on the spot? Being in the path of FI w...

Re: how to attract new ERE neighbours?

I know Animas Valley Institute (Bill Plotkin) and Soulcraft EU hold vision quests/fasts and intensives in Latvia (Stacija) every summer. Must be beautiful out there! Thank you for hosting a EU EREfest and for the invitations to consider/discover Latvia. I'm coming back to EU shortly, and may want to...

Re: What I Spend

F-Droid is mentionned on the Bitwarden.com downloads page, but it seems one currently needs to add the separate repo in F-Droid settings:

Also see: https://mobileapp.bitwarden.com/fdroid/

Some additional apps are also available through Izzydroid repo:

Re: What I Spend

The F-Droid store has a nice email client called K-9 Mail, and it has a KeePassDX which you can use to store passwords. May I suggest also trying FairEmail (email client) and Bitwarden (password manager). I have used K9-Mail and KeePass in the past, but the above have won me over. As an email provi...

Re: Starting from scratch in the minimum wage system

The thread reminds me of a book:

Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell

And a quote (not from that book): "We're too poor to buy cheap".

Re: Chenda's sober ramblings.

INTOXICATION You have to be always drunk. That's all there is to it—it's the only way. So as not to feel the horrible burden of time that breaks your back and bends you to the earth, you have to be continually drunk. But on what? Wine, poetry or virtue, as you wish. But be drunk. And if sometimes, ...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

For sustainable seating on the floor for meditation (along with some elevation to keep the knees lower than the basin), if the knees don't touch the ground, it can be recommended to use props for knee support. One such prop I had never heard before is a meditation belt or wrap. This helps support bo...

Quotes of the day: Since there has arisen today, in my heart, a certain satisfaction. Since strenuous fixity of purpose has settled down into a contented constancy/calm resolve (dhṛti). And since even in solitude I feel as if I am in the presence of a protector, assuredly the worthwhile goal is turn...

Could you just "leave" as in leave it mostly as it is and just not use it, to avoid the hassle? Define exactly what (if any) portion of Amazon you'll still use (such as Audible exclusives) and keep to your decision? If in ten years you still think it is worth the effort to go through all t...

I need to have peace and silence to concentrate, sleep well and be happy. I need to have a lot of interaction and socialization to be happy. I need to have novelty, innovation and change to feel joy. I need to have rules, structure and order to feel joy. I need to make logical, reasonable decision....

I know I am late to join the MMG for this but thank you for sharing the post. The 7 parts shared above will be a perfect reference for me. I couldn't tell which book was the best one to start with so I picked Wild Mind and am about 1/3 of the way through. I like it so far and have some basis to com...

Re: Candide: The Liminal Space

Etymological note: the word diet comes from the Greek, and initially meant "way of life".

In light of this additional meaning, the word itself now offers the subtle perspective shift.

Have a picknic (combines with most everything) Go for a hike or run together Go to a cool secret or previously unknown spot (in the city or otherwise) Do something slightly risky and exciting, like staying in the castle past closing hours, do some urban or cave exploration Go to the sea (and swim to...

Longterm holistic approach on health(care) without reliance on social security

A quote from Scott2 ("I think access to modern healthcare effectively breaks a naive 1 eco-Jacob strategy") inspires me to create this thread, because health-related costs are an important consideration, and even more so for those that target living roughly within 1 jacob/JAFI. This remind...

I've been missing your presence in the MMG, bu...
