Re: Skill-based vs network-based work sourcing
What sounds bad about that is all the equally good people who do not have those things because they never thought to live in such parasitical way.

Re: How do ERE men attract women?
I lived in sort of lot of places. Quality of women that I dated, depended mostly on the location. The best time I had where there were lot of attractive women, and more women than men. Think place like NYC in the US. So, this is sort of market mechanism. Actually when meeting people, I find there is...

Re: AE's Journal Round 6 - Navigating the Liminal Space
Jin+Guice: This is great post, very interesting idea. What interests me in this space is, how reliable is it to get small (10-20k/year USD?) income from making art with no moral compromise. That is not enough for "normal" person but enough for ERE person. Also small amount compared to &quo...

Re: a "job" is not the issue?
ERE probably mostly reaction to hellscape of modern West job situation, where maximum competition is put in, not production, but gaming metrics and so on. ERE is way to become self-employed on purely own terms. That might mean making money, doing "normal" work; doing thing that dont really...

Re: Nobody Talks About It - Stocks Don't Beat Inflation
Stock beat Weimar inflation and most likely to beat inflation in long run. This is because stock value depends on actual business profit, not government estimate of money supply / money velocity. What you (OP) observe is just that stock doesnt return reliable steady return, but jumps up and down a l...

I understand logic if you dont have the job right now. Why work hard to find the job when it's hard?
But if you already have the job, now is the best time to keep it? Did timing just occur by accident, that you lost jobs when markets crashed? (I guess not full accident...)

1% WR gives naive (no compounding, no sequence risk) 50 year time horizon (40->90) with 50% market loss in 50 years period

Re: PSA: 2.7% is the new 4%
People like to think the highest valuations and the highest interest rates also come with lower future return. Bad news enjoys the company, the logic not as much. The WR% is an important and should be seen as the "fixed" quantity. What is not fixed is your outcome which always uncertain, e...

Re: What is ERE2?
Sorry. I mean to say philosophy is anti-consumerism missing from "save money for X year then retire on low income." Not that its missing from ERE1.

Re: What is ERE2?
ERE1 was very simple idea: you can retire in 5 years by becomining smart efficient anti-consumerist.
Some philosophy required to explain why anti-consumerist life is desirable, the missing part.
ERE2 seems like entering space of self-help philosophy which is old, competitive market.

USA is more of welfare state that people think. Most useful "ERE welfare" is SS which is good benefit by world standards. Anyway "Welfare state" is not usually "free money". There are attached string like must first spend down NW, or have made employment contributions f...

Re: Fasting Can Regenerate Your Immune System
I’m in the fourth day. Cancelled lunch. This is more important. Funny taste in mouth. Dry mouth. I’m a little stronger but going up the stairs requires effort unlike in my pre fast days. Thumb joints feel great. Hearing and vision seem more acute but it feels similar to THC intoxication if I can re...

Re: Would you give your kids money for college or life?
People who benefit most from the networking, usually have the least need to pay. In many respects college is "lifestyle consumption good" or "selling the dream." Like other investments, 'FOMO' can dominate human reason Also like other [non-fraud] investments, return usually highe...
