Re: What do you do for work?
I find that this question is most common with career obsessed people. Artist. This produces the widest range of responses. "What kind of art do you do?" (rarely listens or cares unless they are an artist/creative themselves). I show them my travel sketchbook. "O are you starving then ...

Re: NYT article on fatFIRE
One side effect of this article being published right after I opened the gallery... two different friend groups are now talking about FIRE with me (they know I am on here after interacting with @AH, @AE, and the @mooretrees clan at our wedding). Interestingly, both groups are more on the intentional...

Thank you @bos. www.darmera.studio is our website (can also sign-up for newsletter), but a majority of the information that is updated is on our instagram account @darmera.studio . A majority of the art world and local businesses/people use instagram so not going to fight against that current (pick ...

Re: The ERE Wheaton Scale
Any form of "achievement for the betterment of mankind" is one hell of a can of worms to accept at face value.. hence spiritual bypassing around false idols. Choosing the right idols or ideals is half the battle to doing your best work. Believing in your own agency to change the universe ...

Re: Actualization!- Level 7 towards level 8
Indeed. Shooting through is an extension of the the arrow of time. The collapsing into the rolling human experience window of -3 seconds, now, +3 seconds. All of the storage basins are connected not just by pipes, but by a variance/covariance matrix that sits on top. That is what is being updated (n...

Re: Actualization!- Level 7 towards level 8
@J+G this is why I used the analogy of the arrow shooting through multiple capital stacks. If you only developed the money (economic stack) you can shoot arrows through it all day. If you align other capitals for you WOG then you can start shooting through those capitals at the same time. Someone ca...

Re: The ERE Wheaton Scale
In other words, a post-conventional strategy or idea should be repeatable for MANY people. It's not useful if it only works for one special person in one special circumstance. It's hard to tell that from luck. I might have a perpetual motion machine ... but if nobody else can build a copy of my mac...

We had nearly 100 people come to the opening, had some class sign-ups, sold some books that a photographer had. All around everyone is stoked.
This is my piece on the right.

@berrytwo - Yeah! The rolling out of the dough is the longest part. @etryu - It could be something that is lacking, but it much more often for me personally it is a small thing that I notice or feedback that I get from interacting with someone (direct or indirect). So overall it is a very positive t...

Jacob beat me to the first post! Lightly edited to remove redundancies. https://forum.earlyretirementextreme.com/viewtopic.php?p=277205#p277205 I do not want to clutter this thread with a large image so please see my link, but I think that I did a decent job explaining the different capital stacks w...

Another model I like is @mF's "Make, Live, Think, Explore" idea. I'm not sure what he means by this, but I've always interpreted the "live" quadrant as making sure your own house is in order.... putting on your own oxygen-mask. II think this quadrant will always require some act...

Re: Ego's Journal
This is the general state of the bike industry. The regular bike shop that did not prioritize specialization and/or service is being out-competed by direct to consumer companies or mobile bike repair. A majority of the bike shops within a two hour drive of me have something else to add value to a ph...

Re: Make Stuff Log
@mir I think it can be managed for sure. Most of my experience is with trail bikes on single track or very bad forest service roads so it might be a consequence of that style of riding rather than the bags themselves. Post pictures of your frame bag when you are done and let us know any good solutio...

Re: Make Stuff Log
Very cool @AH. It looks good on Blue Bessy. Does it rub your right leg at all? This is always a problem with frame packs IMO. It is easy to overfill them and then you end up with annoying chaffing even if only occasionally touching the bag throughout the day.

Re: The ERE Wheaton Scale
I view it as developing skills in the other forms of capital (economic, social, technical, ecological, spiritual, etc. ) to a personal degree that any one of them could be dropped completely and you would still be doing your thing. Living off a portfolio (or a stash of just straight cash) in order t...

Thank you @guitarplayer. Are you doing hand written journaling exclusively now or just experimenting? We had most of the art/photos hung for the soft opening. 3 more pieces are coming in this week for the full opening. Overall, we had a steady stream of folks come through for the soft opening. Busin...
