Re: classical_Liberal's Semi-ERE

Hi cL. Two plus years ago the aircraft I work on was stuck in customs at a port in South America for 21 days. I had to stay very close to the hotel because we could get the call at any moment to go retrieve it from the docks. My coworkers hated the experience but I was just fine with it. My first de...

Re: RooBadley's Journal.

Today my # is 222. Accounts minus mortgage debt should reach a quarter million fairly soon if I can stop making dumb trading mistakes. Anxiety at work. Strained marriage at home. Depression still under control with the daily prozac pill. I'm very pleased about this. Several months ago Hunter Biden's...

Re: RooBadley's Journal.

DW's engagement ring needs to be sent in for repair, they'll cut out the bling part and solder on a new 'shank'. The nice lady at the jewelry store with all the make up and perfume and jewelry said I'm looking at about $400. It's one of the first things I'm going to do when I get home at the end of ...

You are killing it on the frugality skills, great job. And you've also put in a great effort at this door-knocking job, a solid month of experience. I can tell from your posts that you see the writing on the wall here: Knocking on doors selling 'free' roofing services is a very very hard way to make...

2017 SR: 36.0% 2018 SR: 36.7% 2019 SR: 53.8% 2020 SR: 48.0% (est) Savings rate for 2020 looks like it will be way down from 2019 due to Covid (and other things). These numbers are much higher than I thought they would be, I have a ridiculous pessimism bias. A lot of the money saved a few years ago w...

That's a ton of work on steering & suspension, must be seriously gratifying. So are you stashing the Toyota with someone and spending most of the journey with the motorcycle only? What an adventure. How many miles, states, weeks on the motorcycle? What type of bike?

Sure, but I don't like the feeling of wasting their time. I don't want to sell, just track my NW.

Just generally uncomfortable asking for help.

Re: Zillow Realtor Trulia

Yes I'm sure zillow makes good use of assessed valuations but then they crunch their numbers to convert to fair market value. When I look at tax history and assessed value for my house it's not helpful to me at all, not even close. In my state (probably most everywhere, IDK) the market value rides a...

Re: Zillow Realtor Trulia

Yeah, these numbers look a little too scattered. When plotting a graph going forward, I wanted to be able to get a (sort of) consistent monthly snapshot without having to actively monitor the market. Garbage in, garbage out I guess. I'll probably get really accurate from time to time and see if that...

Zillow Realtor Trulia

I'm looking for an easy ballpark estimate of my house market value. The Adair Homes 3/2 with two car garage is the most common house in my half of the county so there are many comps. I simply take the average of Zillow, Realtor, and Trulia and subtract 10%. My question to anyone who has experience o...

There were 3 eggs in this brood of turkeys. Two hatched and the mama started raising them normally. The 3rd egg was late to hatch so the mother turkey rejected it. DW hatched it out 2 days later and the mother turkey still rejected the poor little thing. DW went on Craigslist and found a fanny pack!...

https://i.postimg.cc/18brVRZv/IMG-2235.jpg Charlie discovered his reflection in the sliding glass door. Feeling Good Together by David Burns Not yet, I'll be on the look out for it. Thanks. Geocaching, I need to see how to do that without a cell signal. I've been rummaging through a big list of cognitive biases looking for insight that might help me find ways to improve communication in my marriage. Of course a whole bunch of the big awful ones apply to DW, but only a couple of the little, harmless, endearing ones apply to me. Hmm, go figure. ;) He...

There's a grenade set to detonate in my checking account. We're butchering the pigs in about 5 weeks and one of the freezers in the garage stopped working. I didn't get a chance to see if I could figure out what's wrong with it before leaving for work and I won't return home until October 26th. IIRC...
