Re: jacob interviewed on the madFIentist podcast

I just watched this today, Jacob mentions he doesn't really have anything against index funds, but seems like he doesn't really use them? How do you invest?

Re: Value Investing

Value Investing in the Benjamin Graham sense of "getting a dollar for 50 cents" will always work, but where can you get a dollar for 50 cents these days? Not many places with the combination of cheap money and investor euphoria we have today. Value Investing in the sense of buying some va...

Re: Need help for touring folding bike

There's a pretty big following for Raleigh 20 folding bikes, even though they are 40+ years old there is a very active facebook group etc for them and sheldon brown has a page dedicated to them, they are used for everything from touring to shopping/ commuting and are usually pretty cheap.

Va...

Re: Best way to heat house while keeping humidity?

Thanks, I do have a humidifier however I find its not that effective, even if the relative humidity says 80% and the windows are fogged up my skin/ mouth/ eyes/ lips etc are all dry in winter, maybe it has to do with the salt content, as the humidifier has no salt. I was thinking of renting an apart...

I imagine hydronic is proba...

Computer Science Degree or Self Learn?

Have read conflicting opinions on whether a degree in computer science is worthwhile or not, some say it's mostly outdated and a waste of time as employers only care about projects/ experience others say that is a pipe dream and you won't get a foot in the door without at least a degree. Makes it di...

Re: Is programming still a valuable skill to learn?

Also how viable is the 'self learning' or bootcamp route that seems to be all the rage at the moment?

Is programming still a valuable skill to learn?

Is programming still a valuable skill? It seems like everybody is doing tech/ programming and salaries are going down, almost everyone who loses their job or wants to change careers is being to told to learn to code. It's also in the best interests of tech companies such as FAANG to hype it up as a ...
