Re: Hussman shows a risk of 50-66% [US stock]market losses

Everything that is not leveraging the new ways selling, getting customers, managing accounts, building infrastructure and building products is going to get left behind. This is a very good point - you can create a business these days for next to no capital expenditure, by leveraging multiple softwa...

Re: The ERE Wheaton Scale

I've started enhancing the ERE Wheaton Level wiki entry with L8+L9. Can't say it's complete yet.

Re: Systems!- Level 6 towards 7

I say Do It. As an irrelevant aside, is one of those realms "making money by selling courses"? ;)

Re: Systems!- Level 6 towards 7

Would it make sense to collate the relevant info on the Wiki? I've been trying to wade through the original Wheaton thread and like this one, it's full of detours that have exactly nothing to do with the topic at hand, so some condensation might be helpful.

Re: The Permanent Portfolio by Craig Rowland & J.M. Lawson

On the note of Permanent Portfolio - I've found it ages ago and implemented it more or less successfully. What I've recently found through the Gyroscopic Investment forum and would recommend to those drawn to the idea but not fully convinced: Equanimity Investing, by Eric Deslauriers (can be found o...

Re: Systems!- Level 6 towards 7

Moin! This is a very fun thread with many good examples how to integrate things differently. AxelHeyst's L6-complete yet L7-counteracting nodes, jacob's conglomerate units feeding into one another and 7wannabe5's design principles of permaculture with three purposes for each node and three nodes for...

If you want to set it up - be my guest. IRC requires next to no setup (and, I'm on Freenode for OSS stuff anyway)

What do you mean? IRC doesn't require phones.

You can login via https://webchat.freenode.net/ or some client you like.

Re: Which 3 news services are worth subscribing to, in order?

I confess that the only news items I currently read are the far more interesting upscale social gossip stories found in Tatler, Paris Match, and Vanity Fair—in addition to The Economist Good quote! If you like these, consider TakiMag as well. I get my daily news fill from a number of curated Twitte...

Re: Cloud Solution for my trading tool?

On the note of AWS -- if you can write whatever processing jobs in such a way that it can run in Docker, you can get by with using AWS Batch. Couple this with a data lake on S3 to be queried with Athena displayed via QuickSight, and you have pretty much state of the art Enterprise stack which satisf...

Re: Occupation and identity

A few years ago, my goto reply to the "what do you do" line was "I clean ducks." It would usually lead to the following dialogue.. "What, really?" "Yeah, have you ever seen a dirty duck?" [ No, Yes, Laughs ] "You see right there I'm damned good at what I ...

Re: Renaissance Lifestyle/3 Strategies

I think the notion of trying to quantify everything here misleads from the ultimate purpose - which is, growing in each of the categories listed in the original post. In my opinion, most of that growth will come from a comparison with previous intervals, but in a qualitative manner: - Am I fitter t...
