Yeah I've been thinking about this the other day. I think due to demographic shifts in the developed world, it might be very easy to make money for people of any age in, say, 2050 if they are willing to work.okumurahata wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 12:53 pmThe downside is that aging theoretically makes it more challenging to secure employment.

Re: 3 yrs to FI: ertyu's journal
The good news is that each year that you still work, you can subtract 12k or 8k from the 600k or 400k, respectively - because you will be one year older :) so it will converge rather quickly. This is my personal back of the envelope theory, is that if extreme early retirement is maybe hard, less ext...

Depending how (cynical) you feel about work and what are the employment laws in Poland currently, some people game the system to get redundancy money at the end of their work - when the time comes for you to call it quits. With no cynicism whatsoever, when my mum was in her late 50s there's been thi...

Hi, I PMed you about the Morskie Oko spot, this would fit perfectly our itinerary.
These can really be dangerous ideas for me to think, because appealing.

Thanks all for the congrats! Sometimes I struggle to communicate with folk at work that I am into working on interesting stuff rather than for 'money' or 'job security' (these still to some small extent though), but I manage to find my way. On Spanish, the thing is I should have it better integrated...

Thank you @guitarplayer. Are you doing hand written journaling exclusively now or just experimenting? Doing it only sometimes, helps me slow down my thinking. On the #Improvements/Inspiration, good music! Also, I am an immigrant and DW as well, think some form of emigration / immigration should be ...

I was just going to ask! Do you have any (even vague) write up on the 'water divide' anywhere on the Internet? We planned cycling from the source of Rhine to its mouth in 2020 but it did not work out because of lockdown. So have an outstanding trip there. I am slowly reintroducing exploring the wide...

If I remember it right, Kahneman around the start of his career as a psychologist worked with the HR for the Israeli army, doing psychometrics for them. Later reflecting, Kahneman concluded that there is little correlation between any recruitment results and performance down the line. Which is anoth...

Re: Bicycle7's Journal
5-8mph sounds good to me. Yes I thought maybe it would be wearing off quicker on tarmac, but then again it should not matter much in any case when roads are used only occasionally (e.g. to link off road bits). Think the key is to have a setup where partially deflated tires will still perform. I rode...

Sounds you had a good time, glad to read! And @AH's place sounds just so much like a type of place I like to hang out at. Big tubeless tires ran at low pressures make it possible to explore a lot more than just asphalt roads, we've ridden through some sand, jeep roads that resemble single track and ...

Re: How awesome is slow cooking?
I call my experiment 80% success at first pass. The lentils from the top part of the thermos were mushy as usual, the ones at the bottom where still whole but soft, slightly al dente. I should say, I had no red split lentils, only whole (though hulled). I did 400g red lentils and 1200g boiling water...

Re: How awesome is slow cooking?
Yes try at home first for sure. My granny used to wrap a pot with rice in half a dozen bedsheets for the same. Was nice to sit on top of it. But the novel bit for me is that maybe it is possible to just cook rice or lentil (probably the red split lentils) with boiling water from the kettle and therm...

2024 update 18/52 exercise I am kind of getting to know the regulars at my exercising spot. Occasionally we talk sports, well they talk to me (sometimes at length). I continuously get this feedback that it is impressive that I can do 201 burpees straight with interspersed pullups and hold a bit of a...

Re: How awesome is slow cooking?
@Jean @conwy this is another clever way that is obvious once you see it. I made this remark to DW the other day that when we made Jamaica flower (hibiscus) tea in a thermos (r) for a hike, the flowers were super soft at the end of the day (when normally they are chewy). Obviously, you can do the sam...

Re: How awesome is slow cooking?
Yes I think so. I normally use setting ‘high’ which is around the water boiling point judging by the bubbles I get after some 3.5h - might depend on a particular slow cooker model.

Re: How awesome is slow cooking?
Yes, perpetual stews were the norm in many places since medieval times. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_stew This is great and so obvious - once you know it. If I ever have kids or more people than DW and I living with us I am going to implement this. For two people, one slow cooker (the si...

Well done @mF! Good you keep in mind recovering other clusters.
I spent this morning doing hand written journaling and one thing let to another so that now I am rereading (again) your initial posts from pages 1 and 2. Thanks for posting.
