Inverting the last paragraph, for people with an inclination for such hippie housing, might be a good idea to put themselves on the receiving end and purchasing such above for next to nothing from a disgruntled soon to be ex owner, though do check for upkeep costs. In terms or ‘renting’, this is one...

Thanks @avalok!
On the process, yes agree. Think I’ll redact these paragraphs slightly, to put it less explicitly and more like you put it.
ETA: there, done, feels better.

I think once you become an expert at ere then intuition kicks in and you don’t have to actually think about everything and micromanage life.

Like mentioned to you earler @loutfard, I am happy to help. Had not built a bed but worked with wood every now and then. Eg * trimmed my bedroom doors with circular saw * built wooden storage boxes from wood scraps (no dovetails) * built an EU palettes sort of bench * adapted a window to work as a s...

Travelling is certainly more work than being rooted somewhere with systems in place. I'm looking at this as a period of time to try new things out, I felt like I needed a phase like this before I settle back down again. It's like a specialism I sometimes think. Vast majority of people are specialis...

2024 update 16/52 'free' Dan Ariely has one chapter in 'predictably irrational' (or the other of his first two bestsellers) about how people's decisions change significantly when the choice architecture is tweaked so that from a range of things to choose, an item that used to cost very little (say 1...

I just checked with DW, she's seen this also actually. Maybe the reasons you mention @thef0x but also, we keep the flat at 15 degrees Celsius these days and Basil is warm loving so maybe this is why we've never seen it roots (plus we normally do it with Basil at use by date from a supermarket).

Re: surprised by change and upredictability
What I occasionally get surprised by in terms of change and unpredictability is in the context of the phenomenology of self or 'how life feels like' after a change has occurred. I know that if I spend a lot of hours doing something, it will change my ability to do it, and if I do a bunch of differen...

I liked about Kahneman that in recorded conversations, he would sometimes say ‘let me think about it’, and then would stop talking and think for a minute or so.

it. I think it's impossible to find an optimal solution for a larger graph even today. One had to prioritize certain paths and stop after a certain amount of iteration. That’s true - the allure of unchartered territories. I covered this and some other good problems last year when learning about gra...

Well looks like I am going to make an orthogonal jump up after all, into dabbling with optimisation and mathematical models like mentioned above. just got a ring from my manager. Onwards and upwards for a wee while longer then.
