Re: Bad gut feeling about a new boss

I find it's easy to second guess myself. "Is it really that bad, should I just stay for x,y,z or reason? (all these variables only equally money basically)". Then I get stuck in a loop when I really should listen to my gut.

Re: Bad gut feeling about a new boss

Quick update. As I suspected, things got worse. This job is causing me quite a bit of anxiety and stress and is affecting my outside life. I've tried to move to different parts of the company but my organization is famous for limiting movement. They like people to stay put. I got an awesome raise, b...

Re: Do you personally drink coffee and why/why not?

I drink two strong cups of cold brew mixed with oat milk every morning.

It makes me a little restless indoors and makes me want to MOVE. Which basically just amplifies what I'm feeling anyway. I cut it off by noon.

Re: Bad gut feeling about a new boss

Can't say I felt the most calm and professional, but for the most part I think I handled it OK. I had a debriefing with someone on his level who was doing some investigation and was pretty frank about how things were taking off. This boss would no way be in the area I'm requesting. Its far outside h...

Re: Bad gut feeling about a new boss

I applied to a new job internally. Hopefully I get it otherwise I'm looking at other options. Problem is now that this pandemic hit I think it might be hard to get any sort of other job. The new boss is under investigation now. Apparently he is causing a lot of issues among other managers and his di...

Re: Is this a turning point in your life?

It's helped me reevaluate nonessential expenses that were starting to rack up. Since I've been scared of the recession I've realized I have barely bought anything which is something I needed to get back to. The isolation kinda sucks. I'm missing people and am more grateful of the time I get to spend...

Re: COVID-19

@Vexed - hope you both feel better soon. The Olympics are postponed until next year - finally! People in my area take social distancing very seriously. Doesn't hurt that this area has a large percentage of introverts. My neighbor sounds like he has it. Claims its allegories, but has all the symptoms...

Re: COVID-19

Community spread in my city. Things are starting to get locked down. Most businesses are closed and a lot of people are working from home. I've noticed in uptick in walkers, runners, and general activity in my neighborhood in the day. Much less plane noise and car traffic as well. I've been graduall...

Re: COVID-19

I'm really getting irritated by the panic buying. Two weeks ago nobody was even talking about this. They all looked at me very strangely when I cancelled my airplane tickets for the next few months. Costco and Aldi were a shitshow. People cutting others off, hoarding toilet paper (I seriously don't ...

Re: COVID-19

Sky - I am doing something similar except I do plan to self isolate when we have community spread and I've developed a daily sanitation routine. Also, we may be witnessing one of the most impressive disinformation campaigns ever. :? Amazing how past media panic and tweets from a certain world leade...

Re: COVID-19

My insane new manager, against recent company guidelines, is still holding a non-essential team building conference for a cross country team. I think he is flexing. I can't believe he would still schedule it even this. I actually refused to go. Hopefully it won't paint a target on my back, but I hav...

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion yet, the UK has tested 13,500 people so far and only had 40 positive results.
Cool. I stand corrected (which I'm glad for).

Re: COVID-19

I suspect there are thousands of cases out there and we only know the tip of the iceberg. Hence extra caution is a good idea. DW works at a hospital and they haven't said a peep about COVID-19. Baffles me that they aren't preparing staff for the inevitable. I'm interested to see if flights in the US...

Re: Bad gut feeling about a new boss

I'm going to practice caution on this one. Luckily I like people on my current project team but I'm going to proactively look into a different role. I've been wanting a change anyway. A manager like this is the exception at my company, not the norm, so maybe he will start chafing with others. I have...

Re: COVID-19

Maybe I'm being optimistic but I somehow don't think grocery store access is going to be limited. Best be prepared, but I can't see it elevating to the point we can't even go to the grocery store. In my instance I live with a healthcare worker so if anyone is going to get it we will. In that case, I...

Re: Bad gut feeling about a new boss

Thanks for the advice @Alphaville. I've been struggling to remain positive for awhile as I've probably stayed in the wrong thing for awhile. In the meantime, I think your thoughts on treating them as a customer is a good idea. Might help me think differently on the situation. As far as project manag...
