Re: an off grid rocket cooktop

refractory cement. I think it would do well for something in that video. My guess is that the fire in that video gets up to 800 or so. (F) For rocket mass heaters, we often push past 2600 - so we have mixed results with the refactory cement. Some people that do an enormous amount of jiggling and add...

Re: an off grid rocket cooktop

Cement typically spalls at 600 degrees, so it is often not a material of choice.

an off grid rocket cooktop

This is a special creation by Peter van den Berg, and enhanced by Kirk "Donkey" Mobert. It was further enhanced by the permaculture bootcamp here at wheaton labs. Kirk insists that we cannot call this a "rocket" since there is no riser, but after having it for two years, I am simply choosing to call...

experiments with cob floors

There's a whole lotta people at my place. And all of us are keen on natural building. At the same time, we do lots and lots of experiments. Here's a new video about some of our experiments with cob floors. For those that are not familiar with what cob is, it is a mix of sand, clay and sometimes stra...

Re: junk pole fence - an alternative to burning "fuel wood"

That's a lot of stuff .... wow! Somewhat back on topic ... I like to think that knowledge of thousands of little things can dramatically reduce expenses. Re: The ERE Wheaton Scale

Forgive my intrusion. I just now made my first account here. Maybe a financial comfort scale level 0: heaps of debt, living hand-to-mouth, gradually building debt level 1: being aware of finances to the point of slowly getting out of debt (1 billion people) level 2: can get by for two to six months ...

Re: junk pole fence - an alternative to burning "fuel wood"

Hello Ego. :)

Please tell me more. :)

I know that Jacob once talked about my "wheaton eco scale." And I know that he has been on several of my podcasts. And I mention him and ERE in my new book.

junk pole fence - an alternative to burning "fuel wood"

(i was sure i already had an account here, but i guess not) I choose an ERE path that leads to homesteading and permaculture. Personal choice. I wish to grow all my own food. And where I live, you cannot grow a garden unless you fence out the deer. And the same fence might want to fence in some chic...
