Re: Vaikeasti to ERE - Family Journal

Thank you for the kind response Aspirant! That podcast was golden and really what I needed at the moment. Especially this thought: When you talk to yourself in a criticizing way, you think it's because otherwise you'd become lazy. That the constant criticizing is pushing you to achieve your goals. B...

4. Try to change my automatic response when asked for help from "sure" to "uhhmm....[stall!]" (think: is this person perfectly capable of doing this themselves? are they in a jam? do I actually want to help with this? am I in the middle of something?) "Can I think about it and get back to you?/No/S...

Re: 3 yrs to FI: ertyu's journal

Wow no fridge. Didn't wolf also experiment with this? Maybe some advice to be had there? It sounds like you're making all the changes at once (moving, renovating, fixing, no fridge, exercise, less alcohol..and I'm surely forgetting something). I fear having your attention so scattered is going to ma...

Re: Vaikeasti to ERE - Family Journal

No sweets challenge My Schoolmate challenged me to a No sweets challenge. According to some source it takes 60 days for something to become a habit. So we're aiming for 60 days without sweets. Though I think the definition of sweets in our challenge is too loose, as junk food is allowed. I am winni...

Re: Axel Heyst's Journal

I'm so glad you AxelHeyst and ertyu (and many others of course!) are here. I was just thinking about this same conundrum, but in a less cohesive way. I think it's really hard to come to terms that even if I would have failed in everything I have tried in life, I'd still be as worthy as a human being...

Good luck on selling the apartment!

I'm really exited about old house renovations too but I'm such a coward with all the possible (health) problems an old house can give.
And to think you've already been exposed to mold and you're still so fearless. Such an inspiration!

Re: Do you personally drink coffee and why/why not?

I like drinking tea when I can enjoy it in peace. So I rarely drink it. I think the expectation that "Everyone drinks coffee" rubbed me the wrong way as a kid. So I never learned to like it. :P Loosely related: I think you can see the quality of a restaurant by the way they serve their tea. Even fas...

Re: Vaikeasti to ERE - Family Journal

Thank you AxelHeyst and ertyu for your input! I really appreciate it. I guess this troubles me so much because I wish to understand the why behind everything. I've been reading the Feeling good together book now and it has given me a lot of new insight also. I've also been listening to the audio boo...

Feeling like an absolute loser doesn't mean you Are an absolute loser. (Besides Being an Absolute Loser would be quite an achievement, wouldn't it? :P ) Mushrooms are so mysterious and cool. Maybe @Vaikeasti can enlighten me about the costs of the cabin? Our cabin costs around 1200 eur /year just owning it in a usable state (taxes, trash, electricity base price, water base price etc.) Another cabin that I know of had costs of 1700 eur last year. They used it for maybe a months worth so...

@shadow, thanks for the comment! Now that you ask, I'm starting to wonder if the rice is meant to be toasted and I'm just doing it wrong. :P @mooretrees, thank you for your encouragement! And the prompt for exercising, I've been neglecting that.. @Aspirant, thank you! But don't feel bad, our grocery...

Re: Greetings!

Welcome!

I too think this forum is unique in a very good way.

And how nice it is that you have family. I think that one of the best things a parent can do is
to adopt a responsible way of life. Children will do as you do and not as you say anyway. :)

Hey and welcome Kasper/Mrkofod! I see you've decided to try the nightmare mode of ERE by having children and living in a high taxing country. I think that having your values sorted out and that they are complimenting ERE is an advantage though. You already know why you want to live a different and m...

School is my next priority. Online school sucks but I need to keep up good grades. This struck out to me because I'm fighting with this too. Do you Really need good grades? Are they vital to your future employment or just a thing you feel is important. (Of course this might be country/occupation sp...

Welcome again! Don't let fear stop you. You can't know the outcome if you don't try. And the classic: You are still so young you have time to change your mind many times. You don't need to get it perfect the first try. Everything you try teaches you of who you are and what you really want in life. I...
