A few minutes of cleaning it out and it works again!
It always amazes me how a simple deep cleaning can fix many things. I've been doing the same with some of my electronics lately and they are run much smoother without the dust, debris and grime.

Re: Fixit Log

I’m a bit ignorant when it comes to how a salvage yard works, so any input would be appreciated! Do you just call or go there to check if they have vehicle you need and then do you work out a price ahead of time for the component(s)? Do they provide access to the vehicle for a certain amount of tim...

Fixed my LG washer today.
Nice work! I've had the opportunity to fix my in-laws washer and decided against it. Disassembling the whole thing to get to a squeaky bearing would have been a pain. How time consuming of a process was your repair?

Re: Something From Nothing Log

My DW and I frequent the local farmers market near our apartment. We always walk to and from cutting across a very nice portion of the neighborhood. On our way back we decided to cut through one of the alleyways to see if anyone threw anything out of value. Boy did I score! A woman was cleaning out ...

Re: Davtheram12's Journal

Thank you Jacob and Ego. Lots to consider and wrap my head around. All good information. I anticipated these issues but didn't expect to have such a difficult time managing my reaction to it. I've recently voiced some of this to my father and without a beat he understood my frustrations. He stated &...

Re: Davtheram12's Journal

There is a reason it is not an easy road. Often the hard parts have noting to do with the reality of the situation and everything to do with the appearance that reality. Thats exactly it! I'm not one to keep up with the Joneses and I refuse to pretend. I'll have to come up with something before I l...

Re: Davtheram12's Journal

Things are changing and it's getting a little overwhelming and annoying. I don't have a lot of time to describe things right now but I'll soon talk about it. The in-laws are starting to ask questions about my current musings. I haven't held a job since I quit my toxic work environment May of 2021. T...

Re: Fixit Log

I just sold both dumbbells for $185. They took a simple indestructible product, dumbbells, and built in some planned obsolescence. I will use the profit to buy a few more kettlebells or a set of Indian clubs when I see them at the swap meet. What a pain! Glad to hear you were still able to sell the...

It's funny reading about your 2 year old being a source of energy consumption. My DW and I don't have kids of our own but whenever we visit family and friends who have kids (typically between ages 2-5) it can be draining. I'm always trying to match their energy level and after a few hours they alway...

I'm glad you got to that point. Mine is nearly non existent now. Things can get weird and fun when this happens

touching story. Reminds me of my grandfather. Puts a tear in my eye. I need to remember to keep working his system.
Thanks Sclass. What was once a place of shame has turned into a fun hobby and source of income. If people keep throwing out nice things, I'll keep hunting for them.

Re: Something From Nothing Log

Stopped at my local thrift store today on my way back from the post office. As soon as I walked in the manager pulled out a huge box filled with sealed video games. Of the 100, about 90 were Grand Theft Auto 5 for the PS3. Only about 10 had seals that didn't have tears on them. As I was looking thro...

@sclass Lol they aren't all awful but since the pandemic started I've noticed a huge influx of transients. Most keep to themselves but some have been getting a little aggressive and odd. One guy asked my female neighbor for a cigarette. After she responded that she doesn't smoke he asked for food. S...

Sold a Vizio V2 sound bar to a young couple for $40 last night. Found it earlier in the month in front of a home after the occupants passed away. On my way back from meeting up the young couple, I ran into a lot of discarded items in the alleyway behind my apartment. Seemed like someone moved out an...

Wow! I would have been livid had something like that happened to my car when I was in college. It's interesting to see what lengths people will go when they feel life has wronged them. Deep seeded resentment with a lack of emotional fitness can really make someone snap. It's usually a significant ot...

Boy do I hate vandalism. People can be such a pain! Went out to my DW's car on our way to visit the in-laws and the whole driver's side was keyed. They managed to get the quarter panel, rear door, front door and fender. The pattern was odd so I decided to look at the other cars that were parked in l...

Re: Fixit Log

I was test riding the bike route to the office and ran into an issue with my bike. I had similar issues in the past with my commuter bike. After fiddling with it I realized I broke the rear axle (on two separate occasions). Although not a common problem, it does happen. Hopefully your dilemma is ea...
