Re: Fixit Log

@Sclass Old tech has been making a huge resurgence lately and I still find it very peculiar. I don't expect the same thing to happen to 8-tracks  I can't believe it takes that much money and effort for a car battery. I suppose I can't be very surprised considering some cars have become rolling ...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

Wow! I think you were conservative with your $400 estimate. NCAA 14 (XBOX 360) - 74 Sold - Average Price $232.75 (one sold for $1000) NCAA 14 (PS3) - 68 sold - Average Price $191.76  oh geeze! I'd say so. I just saw a sold listing on OfferUp for NCAA14 (XBOX360) that was graded and sold for ...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

Went to a local thrift store today, attached to a church, at my DWs hometown. Went straight to the video games section and ended up finding 5 sealed and new Xbox 360/PS3 video games. Found the following: NCAA 14 (XBOX 360) NCAA 14 (PS3) NCAA 12 (PS3) MADDEN 13 (XBOX 360) MADDEN 25 (XBOX 360) Paid $2...

Re: Fixit Log

Wooh! Those are some insane numbers. And it seems like those are local mechanics and not necessarily dealership quotes. I'll spend some time thisbweekend tallying up the money I've avoided spending by doing my own work. That website is a great resource for someone trying to weigh their options betwe...

Re: Fixit Log

After changing out the fan resistor in my car I noticed the blower motor was making some noise. Sounded like the bearing was giving out. Pulled it out, manually spun the fan and sure enough, it made a slight grinding noise and didn't spin freely. Ordered a new one ($45) and replaced it. Just like th...

Re: Fixit Log

You will lose your friends if you stay on this course. :| I'm lucky to have a few very close friends that have known I'm a bit of a miser. I give in many ways but spending money frivolously is something they know I don't partake in. I actually have a very close friend who is far more extreme than m...

Great movie and great song! I may be able to pull it off through mimicking but it would be an extremely sharp learning curve.

Re: Something From Nothing Log

Walked to my car yesterday morning and I found an accordion! It's in rough shape but it still works. One key is partially missing but everything else is there and working. It's a vintage Bomar Italian accordion 41/120 in white. It's yellowed with age but it's a beauty! Im honestly blown away. It's n...

Re: Fixit Log

@Sclass That was a very clever way to get the answers you needed! Although the internet has drastically changed how people approach any repair, some of those people still exist. My old manager was just that type of guy. When I was first learning to properly diagnose and repair my cars I would occasi...

Re: Fixit Log

I've been driving a lot more lately, since I started working again, and noticed my car fan stopped working. With four different fan settings I noticed 1-3 didn't work but as soon as I set the fan speed to 4 the fan suddenly kicked on. I figured it was the blower motor resistor and after very light r...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

Sold a few more items recently. Sold a Sun Mountain C130 golf bag, to what seemed like a reseller, for $45. Found that on my way home from work driving through an alleyway. That bag was in very good shape so I'm sure he would likely make a decent profit. Sold a like-new long reach stapler, for $5, t...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

@ego bahaha that "dios mio!" had me chuckling. My mother, aunts and grandmothers all had the same reaction whenever they were surprised. I was surpised myself since i regularly see those CRT TVs thrown out all the time. Theres been a huge resurgence in retro video gaming lately. My assumpt...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

Sold a couple SONY CRT Trinitron TVs this past weekend. One sold to a friendly guy who was planning a retro game night in celebration of his 40th birthday. Mentioned he was going to play Time Crisis using the light gun. Sold it to him for $40. Serendipitously on my way home from the sale I found ano...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

Had another great week of trash sales. Met a gentleman who decided to get back into trail running after a long hiatus so I sold him a pair of Hoka Challenger 2 trail running shoes for $40. Those were actually from my personal collection (previously gifted by my mother-in-law) but they were too narro...

I had no interest at all in art before meeting Mrs. Ego.
I guess some of it stuck.
I'd call that a good case of serendipity. Thank you for the lovely story. I've grown fond of geniology as of late and find it fascinating. I look forward to more of your stories

Re: Something From Nothing Log

@Ego
How did you obtain your knowledge with art? Was it just happenstance with years of swap meet experience or genuine interest? I know I've learned a few things through experience and exposure but I know my knowledge is still limited in many areas.

Re: Something From Nothing Log

In the original box! Nice! You live in a very fruitful neighborhood. Fruitful and wasteful. Ive grown somewhat used to it but still find myself surprised. My DW and I were heading back from my dad's home just this past Sunday night when we both noticed something in our alleyway. Turned out to be a ...

Re: Something From Nothing Log

Had a great day of selling more trash. Scheduled with two buyers yesterday morning. The first buyer bought a pair of ANHU hiking shoes and a set of 10lb olympic bumper plates. Met him at the whole foods grocery store and sold those items to him for $55. I had about 30 minutes before I needed to meet...

Not as fruitful as dtr above, but i found 3 mugs at the dumpster today. nice.
I love finding free mugs! My DW has a fascination for them so you likely scored items that would make someone ecstatic. I know she would be pleased.
