Re: FreedomPop
Interesting, I doubt it's intentional since they don't seem to have ay messaging related to this on their website. Probably just easier to use a third party library in their app rather than building the software themselves. I haven't prepared for the possibility of this happening to the non Sprint S...

Re: FreedomPop
Since the SIM/service only provides cellular data their app is effectively a VoIP app for both calls and messaging which is how they manage o count them as messages and call minutes rather than cellular data usage. You can use third party messaging/VoIP apps for those functions then it would be coun...

Re: Preventing unnecessary medical care
It is rare to come across a vet that doesn't make me feel liked I'm being fleeced by the time I leave their office. It seems like they try to sell you every possible service under the sun and if you question them they tend to try to make you feel like you are being irresponsible for not spending all...

Re: Warning: WH seeks to limit/deport immigrants using ACA and other gov. services
First past the post systems seem to trend towards a 2 party system so as long as this is the voting system I don't think there will be a change in the current way things are in the US nor do either of the two parties have any interest in changing the system as it would only lessen their power. @Sepp...

Re: ERE shaming
To admit that you would be able to do it is to admit that they woud be able to, but are choosing not to inadvertently through their daily choices. That's not something most want to accept. It's much easier to just tell yourself that someone else is delusional and that doing what everyone else does i...

Re: Ten years or less to reach FI
I can attest that downgrading from a 1500 sq ft house with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a yard to a bedroom close to work allowing me to also not have a car has for the vast majority been a massive improvement as it has nearly eliminated the vast majority of maintenance work. Eventually i'll probab...

The majority of my friend group is women so I've got that going for me. They've tried and thought of setting me up before but there has been zero single friends/acquaintances of theirs they could think of. There really aren't that many single women up here. It really might be time to try somewhere ...

It was a pretty interesting discussion, a shame Peter Thiel had to leave when he did as they were finally kind of going from discussing the situation up to this point to their ideas for moving forward.

Re: Polyamory Support Group
It wouldn't be too surprising if the ERE/FIRE community didn't match the general population's distribution. I mean look at the MBTI and the big 5 distribution that have been discussed here and we tend to be way off from the normal distributions. I would venture to guess that there might be some corr...

Sounds like things are improving on the relationship front. Hopefully the job/career side will follow suit.

Re: the animal's journal
While the point is taken, I have to question whether it’s possible to feel warm and fuzzy about someone who has “back-burnered” you. I think it's very hard and the longer it goes on the higher the chances for resentment or feelings of inferiority could be. Neither of which lead to a healthy relatio...

Re: Polyamory Support Group
Hm, interesting the attachment theory stuff. Even without knowing about the theory before you mentioned it it's definitely something that I got an inking of in my previous relationship. My ex and I would definitely have been a combination of anxious(her) and avoidant(me). It definitely was trouble a...

Re: the animal's journal
Definitely can empathize with the feeling as it's something I've definitely experienced since my ex and I agreed to divorce. I haven't focused on women yet, but its definitely getting tougher now that it's been a year since we agreed to divorce and half of that spent actually divorced. I think ther...

I didn't receive any information regarding this and am having some trouble determining if I'll even be affected. I use the GSM/AT&T version rather than the CDMA/Sprint version. Is it only the CDMA models being affected by the change?

Re: Coding for Kids
Exposing your kids to new things is almost always a good thing and as long as it's done without pressure it can only be complimentary so definitely think it's good that you are thinking about these things. Just in relation to the "something for boys". I would disagree and say it's somethin...

Re: Coding for Kids
I definitely agree that making it explorational with tangible results is important. I started with simple HTML from a science magazine's tutorial when I was 8 or so and it was mostly the excitement to see a visual result of my work that kept me going on it. Due to this I would actually disagree with...

@Jacob
That was pretty much what I grew up on with one slight modification in that it was over-boiled food. Mostly vegetables that were a gross mush along with some potatoes and some meat. Over-boiling vegetables seems to be a dutch tradition though.
