Did I miss the post where you explained the reason for the rush to get the cash and what you plan to do with it?

Re: Getting old sucks
I don't believe I fear death. I fear a bad death.
As I get older I notice the difference more and more. Flying on a Boeing 737 MAX doesn't scare me in the least. Dying of a stroke causes no distress.
Living after a debilitating stroke is terrifying.

Re: Estimating Healthcare Costs in America
As for getting medications approved on Medicaid - it seems cumbersome but once you push for it hard enough, it's doable. Most initial requests are denied and if your doctor is willing to step up and push, they can often approve it. One of the best options is Direct Care services such as Direct Prim...

Re: Evaluating civilization collapse
@paula, vulnerable to what exactly? With the 2.8 million year history of the Homo genus, most lived experience has been outside civic society and its specialised technologies/economies. If we were so vulnerable in such a state, then surely the genus would have been faced with extinction many times ...

Re: Evaluating civilization collapse
Indigenous tribes are best placed with skills and knowledge to live outside the system, but even they are vulnerable to AGW, inevitable displacement of the cities, water stress, pollution etc etc. History has shown that indigenous people are the most vulnerable. Their knowledge and skills are based...

Re: Negative Wheaton levels
The negatives would have to involve those who are intentionally ignorant, who boast of their bad decisions, who are proud of their increasing debts, and who make every effort to force others to pay their way.

Getting at which company does that best for us appears a nontrivial moving target. Especially with changing regulation, I will not do that investigation until the last minute. When you decide to begin your investigation you may find this list of Medicaid drug exclusions helpful. https://www.medicai...

Re: Estimating Healthcare Costs in America
Scott, that is a good example but you are insured by your employer not an ACA plan. If you were on a silver or gold ACA plan what would your premium plus deductible plus copay be? Medicaid is paying for biosimilars for biologics.

Does anyone have any first hand experience that Medicaid is somehow more bureaucratic than the ACA plans?

Re: Thoughts on Plastic Surgery?
The spectrum of self/other orientation runs from self-centered at one end to other-centered at the other end. Those with successful relationships fall in the healthy middle ground. An interest in plastic surgery at a young age is indicative of a strong self-orientation which makes relationships diff...

Here is a quote from his book. "If your child is the kind of determined varmint who simply runs away, laughing, when placed on the steps or in his room, physical restraint might have to be added to the time out routine. A child can be held carefully but firmly by the upper arms, until he or she...

Re: Social Security And Tax-Advantaged Retirement Accounts For Low Income Earner
The tax you paid is self employment tax. There is no way around it. See Schedule SE then see where Other Taxes are entered on form 1040. They are below the Credits section so no amount of IRA deduction will help, regardless of your self-employment income amount.

Re: Summit with Putin
He didn't state that publicly as his intent, and maybe it was a happy accident, but it might have been an actual plan. He's not going about it in a way that I approve, or one that I can say unreservedly I support, but the goal is not nefarious. Happy accidents are wonderful! They are so frivolously...
