ETF minimum size

I recently bought an etf without really paying attention to its size. It has an expense ratio of 0.07% and assets under management of about 260 million euros. But then I figured 0.07% of 260 million is only 182 000. That seems very little. How big should an etf really be to not be at risk of liquida...

Re: A french newcomer into the rabbit hole

Nice to see a frenchman on this forum. I'm wondering if there are any french sites that you frequent that are ERE-related (forums, investing sites,...)?

Re: Mae & FrugalPatat's Journey

Still saving around 75% of our salaries. But no longer working fulltime. I like it. Our portfolio was 80% cash and 20% gold (an etf) but I sold the gold on friday for a 15% profit. So now 100% cash. Currently trying to decide what to do portfolio wise. In the past few days I've been reading on optio...

Re: Precious metals

I've just started reading about gold stocks as well but am wondering now: 1) What about the impact of decreasing mining yields in the sector? 2) It seems obvious that low oil prices imply increased profits but when I looked at the charts there seems to be a high correlation between gold prices and o...

EU-focused resources on investing and the economy

Almost everything I read about investing or the economy (books, news sites, forums, blogs, podcasts, twitters I follow, ...) is heavily focused on the US (and is writting in english). There are a few belgian economists that I follow that have a critical view of EU policy and mainstream media but I f...

Re: Exercise/Fitness Log

Sorry to hear about your injury. You might want to reconsider 'good mornings' - they are often recommended as an exercise to avoid dye to high risk of injury - you can look up on YouTube. Yea I get worried with heavy good mornings and the mechanics are almost the same as stiff legged deadlifts so I...

Re: Exercise/Fitness Log

I lift weights every day. And because I have a home gym I am not impacted by the corona virus. But I injured myself about a month ago when I was building up to a 1 RM deadlift. I had been doing deadlift at home for about 2 years but since I can't risk doing 1 RM deadlifts in my appartment I went to ...

Re: Virus causing massive uptick in telework and employee empowerment

I also work at home because of the virus. I don't mind it but there are some disadvantages: -as mentioned by flying_pan: I don't have a dedicated desk, and at home I just work on my laptop whereas at work I have 2 monitors. Since I don't have the space for a dedicated desk I don't have a permanent s...

Re: What are you doing during the confinement ?

Working at home fulltime. Lifting weights (I have a power rack in my appartment) so not dependent on on a public gym. Being harassed by my neighbour who thinks I am destroying the building with my lifting. After not running for over 10 years I went running in the park for 2 miles with my wife. When ...

I'm down about 0% because I'm 80% cash and 20% gold since maybe 1.5 months. I was 45% stocks 1 january and 80% in december still. I got lucky, for now.

Re: "Performance" clothing for avoiding ironing and other stupid things

I wear cotton dress shirts and I do not iron them (anymore). If you dry them on a coathanger and remove the worst wrinkels by hand (before drying) I find there is no need for ironing.

Re: reepicheep's journal

@Jin+Juice and @FrugalPatat, Yes, fretting with left hand. I guess we'll see! Electric guitar probably not in the cards, if for no other reason than I already own a lovely acoustic Taylor that I don't deserve. I'll ask teacher-man about tuning it down a half step. Not sure what that means though! R...

Re: Learning a musical instrument inexpensively?

Not an advice; but this is my guitar-path: In hindsight the most important thing I did was to constantly make my own music at whatever level I was at. Even if you just know 3 chords without having a 'theoretical' clue as to their relation you can make music out of that just based on feeling. I think...

Where to find sub-aggregate information about stock market?

It is unclear to me where to find sub-aggregate information about levels between the entire market and that of individual stocks. With sub-aggregate information I mean aggregate information about 'components' of the stock market; especially in relation to the 'whole' of the stock market; a good exam...

-tuning the guitar down 1/2 step

Re: Mae & FrugalPatat's Journey

1. I've got a significant raise for 2020. I’ve been having this raise as an objective for about a year; and as a condition to allow myself to consider working less. So now I can consider working 80-90% instead of 100%. But the additional free time has to have an purpose other than sleeping more. Wil...

ERE & (professional) human capital

I was wondering how you people balance the temptation to maximize your long-term professional human capital with the desire for an ERE lifestyle? For me one path would be to stay in my current role at work and start working 80% in the near future. However I have the nagging feeling that by doing so ...

Re: DIY Laundry Soap without Borax

I considered making our own laundry 'soap'; but then I read somewhere that laundry detergent (from the store) is not 'soap'. Can anyone shed light on this? Is it not a problem to use 'soap' in a washing machine?

Have anyone of you already read it? It sounds promising. I read it. But I'm not too positive. Anecdotes make for an entertaining read but this book is pushing it. There's just too much text and not enough information. On some level, it's entertaining, but if you dislike books with low information d...
